1. When Is The Best Time To Book My Photoshoot?

Most photographers recommend taking your maternity photographs between 34 -36 weeks. This will usually result in the most flattering photographs as your bump will be nice and round at this stage, but not so heavy that you feel tired and uncomfortable.

2. Professional Photographer

The most important tip for your photo session, is to invest in an experienced and talented professional photographer. Once you have found the photographer of your choice, you can go ahead and book your photoshoot date and location.

3. Professional Make-up

It is a good idea to invest in booking a professional make-up artist in your area to round off the perfect look.

4. Flowers

Depending on your location, it might be a good idea to add some fresh flowers to your attire. A bunch of flowers or a flower crown can be very flattering and stylish. Have a look at our photo gallery on our website to see the difference with or without flowers.

5. Find the Perfect Dress

In our experience it is the best to book a fitting session about two weeks before your photoshoot. This way you will ensure that the dress will still fit comfortably by the time you have your photoshoot booked.

6.Plan the Rest of the Family’s Outfits

The rest of the family’s outfits are as important as your dress. To ensure picture perfect photos, you will have to coordinate your husband and children’s outfits with your dress. Also read our helpful blog about coordinating colours.

7. Taking photos with older siblings

Remember to prepare the older siblings a few days before the photoshoot. Go over the events of the day and what to expect. It is helpful to pack a picnic blanket where the kids can have a little break and enjoy a snack (that is not too messy to eat), while you do a few individual or couple’s photos. Also remember to pack water, wipes and tissues.

8. Take in Every Moment and Relax!

The best photos come from genuine and spontaneous moments, which means your favourite snapshots will happen when you’re relaxed and having fun!
